Sonia left audiences in awe at her self-produced shows "Five Years Free!" and "Gundilya - Strong" in 2025! In 2026, Sonia presented a moving and thought-provoking production in a raw and explosive collaboration of healing, hope and harmony with Leni, Scott Rathman Jnr, and Toni Janke – Healing in the Round - Adelaide Fringe Award Winner for Best of Music 2026.

Sonia Smith is a First Nations Gugada (Kokatha) Artist, Singer, Songwriter and Composer. Sonia has been making waves across stages in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland since 2023.
With her powerful voice, music and lyrics, Sonia shares the story of her life, from rock bottom times to the warrior woman she is today. Delivering a unique blend of blues, gospel, folk, country and rock, Sonia shares her endless strength and resilience with heart and soul. A deeply collaborative and community driven artist, Sonia has shared stages with such incredibly talented artists including Coloured Stone, Jason Lee Scott, Kutcha Edwards, Russell Smith, Jungaji, Nancy Bates, Toni Janke, Katie Aspel, Glenn Skuthorpe, Julian Ferraretto, Enrico Mick Morena, Alain Valodze and Jamie Harrison. 2025 saw Sonia produce and deliver two performances for the Adelaide Fringe season, “Five Years Free’ and "Gundilya - Strong". In 2026, Sonia delivered a show with LENI, Scott Rathman Jnr and Toni Janke and won an Adelaide Fringe Award for Best of Music! A show of personal truths and lived experiences through story and song - Healing in the Round. Sonia was also a 2025 Juror for the Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMAs) held in Meanjin, Brisbane and a judge for the SA Music Awards held on Kaurna Yerta, Adelaide. Making another dream come true, Sonia performed for the first time at BIGSOUND 2025 at iconic venue The Sound Garden in Fortitude Valley, QLD as part of the Goolwal Goolwal program. A proud participant in the 2025 Nexus Interplay alumni, Sonia has been working diligently on creating new material for her project. She is looking forward to releasing her debut EP in 2026.
