Sonia Smith is a First Nations Gugada (Kokatha) Artist, Singer, Songwriter and Composer. Sonia has been making waves across stages in South Australia since 2023.
With her powerful voice, music and lyrics, Sonia shares the story of her life, from rock bottom times to the warrior woman she is today. Delivering a unique blend of blues, gospel, folk, country and rock, Sonia shares her endless strength and resilience with heart and soul. A deeply collaborative and community driven artist, Sonia has performed both solo and shared stages with such incredibly talented artists including Coloured Stone, Jason Lee Scott, Kutcha Edwards, Russell Smith, Glenn Skuthorpe, Jungaji, Nancy Bates and Toni Janke. 2025 saw Sonia produce and deliver a performance for the Adelaide Fringe season, “Five Years Free’. A deeply personal piece, Sonia’s performance told her story of trauma and tragedy to triumph and healing. Other notable performances include SA's 2025 Premier NAIDOC event at Tartantandanya Victoria Square, the Adelaide Make Music Day and the One of One Women in Music Brunch. Sonia is also a 2025 Juror for the Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMAs) held in Meanjin, Brisbane. A proud participant in the 2025 Nexus Interplay alumni, Sonia has been working diligently on creating new material for her project. She is looking forward to releasing her debut EP in 2026.
